DAP today dismissed former prime minister Najib Razak’s claim the party was hiring 100 cybertroopers on JobStreet as a blatant lie.

Party leader Tony Pua clarified in a press conference that the party was indeed hiring but only “two to five social media writers”.

“Najib Razak proudly claimed that we are going to pay 100 cybertroopers to work for DAP. Isn’t that a blatant lie from an ex-prime minister?”

“We are only looking for two to five people to work for the party and they are not cybertroopers but social media writers,” said Pua.

Najib on Facebook on Tuesday accused DAP of paying each of the 100 cybertroopers up to RM5,000.

Najib said DAP was desperate after Pakatan Harapan lost four by-elections in a row.

“PH used to accuse BN of paying RM3,000 a month for a cybertrooper but now DAP is paying RM5,000 through JobStreet.

“It is to fight fake news they say. But we know they have to do this because BN has gained momentum and they have lost four by-elections in a row,” Najib said.

Pua did not deny that the party could pay its new recruits up to RM5,000 each but explained that the salary would be commensurate with experience.

“It is true that we posted the vacancy on JobStreet and the pay grade depends on your experience. If you deserve to be paid RM5,000 we will pay the amount. We are not paying fresh graduates that sum of money,” he said.

Dusun Tua assemblyman Edry Faizal Eddy Yusof, who was present at the press conference, urged Najib to apply for the vacant position.

“Since he is now jobless and only attends his court cases, he is welcome to apply. He has a lot of free time spreading fake news so why not he apply?”

“But we can’t promise if we will accept him,” said the DAP man.

Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin says Najib was wasting their time with his fake news.

“We are supposed to work for the people and our time can be used to help the masses. However we have to be here to today to rebut this unfounded claim.”

“It is a waste of time as the time can be used for a better purpose.”
