THE deputy defence minister’s office will lodge a police report over a claim that Liew Chin Tong mooted the idea of smuggling into the country the ashes of former Malayan Communist Party leader Chin Peng.

Liew’s office, in a statement, said the allegation by blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin in an article titled “The Fake Ashes of Chin Peng” yesterday is malicious.

“The deputy defence minister has never made any comment on the matter, and views Raja Petra’s slanderous article as serious.”

It called on all parties to refrain from spreading the false claim.

It was reported that the ashes of Chin Peng – real name Ong Boon Hua – were brought into Malaysia on September 16 and scattered in Perak, his home state. – Bernama, December 4, 2019.
