ACTION will be taken against those who plans to have a parallel congress with PKR’s this weekend, said party information chief Shamsul Iskandar.

He said the party can only congregate at one place, not two.

“If there is one held on the same day, we will take action in accordance with the party’s legal channels and constitution.”

Rumours swirled over the weekend that a group aligned to PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali plans to hold a separate congress on the same dates.

The PKR official national congress is scheduled in Malacca from December 5-8.

Yesterday, PKR advisory council chairman Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said she hoped the ongoing infighting in the 21-year-old party could be resolved at the congress.

With about a million members, PKR, a component party of the ruling Pakatan Harapan coalition, is known to be beset with factionalism due to friction between party president Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin, who is also economic affairs minister. – December 2, 2019.
