THE removal of PKR Youth wing’s permanent chairman and his deputy from their positions was purely due to them having exceeded the 35-year age limit and nothing more, said youth chief Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

He said this was in compliance with the party’s constitution requiring youth wing members to be under the age of 35.

“If you look at the party’s constitution, it does mention this,” he said today.

“So, what we are doing is actually to uphold the rules that have been set by the party,” Akmal told reporters in Parliament today.

Muhamad Mizan Adli Mohd Nor and his deputy, Mohd Ramly Ahmad, were informed in a letter dated November 27 and signed by Youth national secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razak.

Akmal said the party members were over 35 when they contested last year.

“They cannot be over that age then. One was almost 40.

“So, I would say, just allow the youths to run the youth wing,” the Johor Baru MP said.

In the letter sent by the youth secretary, it was also stated that the two received more votes than the number of delegates present at the PKR Youth national convention last year, suggesting electoral fraud.

Mizan and Ramly received 400 and 397 votes respectively, but there were only 270 delegates, said the letter.

In an immediate reaction, the duo said they will refer the matter to the Registrar of Societies. – November 28, 2019.
