THE spat between PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali, appears to have spilled over into the Youth wing.

Hours after wing No. 2 Muhammad Hilman Idham declared that the “youth” want Azmin to deliver the policy speech at their congress next month, his chief, Akmal Nasir, said the “call” does not represent the wing.

“It’s inaccurate to call yesterday’s meeting an official one, as our notice of meeting will be issued only on November 24.

“The opinion expressed at yesterday’s meeting represents only certain people, not the wing,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

Akmal, who is also Johor Baru MP, said only 13 of the 49 Youth excos attended Hilman’s meeting.

“It’s misleading. If you want to call a meeting, a notice should be issued two weeks before the meeting. And, there should be sufficient quorum for the meeting.

“The Youth wing cannot hold meetings at home. They should be held in the PKR office.”

The issue was sparked by PKR Youth’s decision to break with tradition and invite former party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to officiate at its congress instead of the deputy president.

Azmin’s backers have expressed disappointment with the decision, while Anwar’s faction defended it as the wing’s right.

Akmal said Hilman is caught in a dilemma as the latter is also Azmin’s political secretary, adding: “But the party is bigger than everyone.”

Asked if action will be taken against Hilman, he said it is up to the Youth wing to decide.

Akmal is said to be aligned with Anwar and PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli. – November 21, 2019.

  • Hilman is also behaving like Azmin... a few PKR youth present and he makes an irrational statement.. Just Like Azmins secret meeting.. People like these are called opportunists, they seize any opportunity to make make their stand clear. They dont respect rules and protocols because if they follow the right way of doing things. They will lose.
Akmal is correct on all counts. There must be peppier procedures to ensure a quorum a present before a vote or decision is taken..

  • When the Minister of Economy cannot remember he owes $300,000 for travel expenses personally incurred by him, and expect millions of Malaysians to believe that-it is time for this guy to go. Did we foresee in the new Malaysia, a minister spending so much money on travel for his family...where did the money come from? Kick him out of the cabinet. He is no good for the new Malaysia. Corruption manifests itself !
