PKR vice-president Chua Tian Chang has condemned the egging of a car belonging to Batu MP P. Prabakaran and urged the young PKR lawmaker to be patient.

“I completely disagree with whoever did this. Let the police investigate. These are some of the things an elected representative will face,” he said to The Malaysian Insight.

Chua, better known as Tian Chua, was MP for the Batu constituency from 2008 to last year.

He could not defend the seat in the 14th general election after he was barred by the Election Commission (EC) over a court conviction.

Now, there are calls for Prabakaran, 23, to vacate the seat and give way to Chua in a by-election, after a court ruling last week that the EC was wrong.

Last night, Prabakaran found the rear windshield of his Toyota Vellfire pelted with eggs after coming out of a meeting in Jalan Ipoh.

He lodged a police report at the Sentul police station.

The Sentul district police has confirmed the police report to the media, saying egg shells were found on the front windshield and on the bonnet, as well as in the driver’s side of the car.

The case is classified under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief and thereby causing damage to the amount of RM25.

Conviction carries a jail term not less than one year and not more than five years or with fine or with both.

Chua has denied being behind the 14 community groups from Batu who asked for Prabakaran to vacate the seat.

“I, myself, have faced unhappiness and all sorts of complaints as an MP,” he said.

Prabakaran won in Batu last year as an independent with PKR supporting his campaign. He later joined the party.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil also condemned the egging of Prabakaran’s car, saying all parties should be respectful of an elected representative even if he is young.

“No one should be taking advantage of the situation.

“Prabakaran may be young but he has shown understanding of the issues in his constituency. He is a proactive elected rep,” said Fahmi who, like Prabakaran, is also an MP in a federal territory seat, in Lembah Pantai. – November 16, 2019.
