TWO candidates in the Tanjung Piai federal by-election fulfilled their responsibility as registered voters and were among early birds at the polling centres.
Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Karmaine Sardini was at the polling centre at SK Telok Kerang, near Pintian, about 7.45am to cast his vote. He was accompanied by his younger brother, Safeei Sardini.
Karmaine said he was nervously awaiting the results which would be announced tonight.
Meanwhile, Barisan Nasional candidate Wee Jeck Seng arrived at SJKC Yu Ming 1 in Pekan Nanas at 7.40am.
He was accompanied by his wife, Lim Joo Hon, who is also a registered voter in Tanjung Piai.
There are 52,471 registered voters in the Tanjung Piai parliamentary constituency.
Besides Karmaine and Wee, four other candidates are contesting for the seat.
They are Gerakan candidate Wendy Subramaniam, Berjasa’s Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz and two Independent candidates, Dr Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar. The four are not registered voters in Tanjung Piai. – Bernama, November 16, 2019.
