BERSATU president Muhyiddin Yassin has dismissed predictions made by pollsters that Barisan Nasional (BN) will win back the Tg Piai parliamentary seat in the by-election tomorrow.
Calling this to be part of BN’s psy-war strategy, Muhyiddin said a survey by Pakatan Harapan (PH) found that its candidate had a bigger share of support which will be translated to votes tomorrow.
“Our own surveys show that we are leading. I can’t tell you the percentage. However this final minute push is critical.
“We hope to get a bigger majority than before but the important thing is to win,” he told reporters in Tg Piai today.
Two different pollsters – Ilham Centre and Institut Strategi dan Integriti Terengganu (TSIS) – have predicted that BN will emerge as the winner tomorrow.
They said there will be a swing among the Chinese voters away from PH to BN due to the community’s anger with the ruling pact for failing to deliver its election promises.
The PKR-linked Institut Darul Ehsan meanwhile said PH was leading BN by nine points, giving the edge to PH’s Karmaine Sardine over BN’s Wee Jeck Seng.
Muhyiddin said it would be difficult for pollsters to accurately gauge the voter sentiment.
He, however, admitted that the support for PH was dull in the early days of campaigning but this has changed in recent days. – November 15, 2019.
