PKR fully supports Pakatan Harapan candidate Karmaine Sardini, and wants all its members to vote for the Bersatu candidate in the Tg Piai by-election tomorrow, said Fahmi Fadzil.

The PKR communications chief said a letter, purported to be from PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, urging party members not to vote tomorrow was false.

“This letter was designed by Pakatan’s rivals to confuse our members and colleagues in Pakatan.

“This is a desperate and dirty tactic by groups that do not want to practice healthy politics,” he said in a statement today.

The letter, bearing PKR’s letterhead, has been circulating on social media and instructs PKR members not to vote in the Tg Piai by-election.

The letter, dated today, said PKR’s political bureau has decided that its members should not vote in the polls.

“This decision is meant to pressure Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to adhere to the agreement to hand over power,” the letter read.

It was addressed to the leaders of all PKR divisions, youth and women’s wings.

After almost two weeks of campaigning, Tg Piai will vote for a federal lawmaker at 8am tomorrow. 

Besides Karmaine, there are five other candidates – Barisan Nasional’s Wee Jeck Seng, Gerakan deputy secretary-general Wendy Subramaniam, Berjasa president Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz and independents Ang Chuan Lock and Faridah Aryani Abd Ghaffar – vying for the P165 seat. – November 15, 2019.
