BARISAN Nasional’s Tg Piai candidate Wee Jeck Seng must state his stand on hudud now following MCA’s working relationship with PAS, said Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin, a former BN strongman, said MCA had previously objected to the Islamist party’s right to introduce hudud laws.
“I am a Muslim but PAS says it’s more Muslim because it defends hudud law. Barisan Nasional opposed PAS in the past… MCA was scared,” he said.
“But now, BN and MCA are working hand in hand with PAS. What is Jeck Seng’s stand? BN has been spoilt because it’s with PAS,” he told Chinese constituents while campaigning last night at Taman Utama, Pekan Nenas in Tg Piai.
Muhyiddin said he had never trusted PAS as it always felt it was “more Muslim” than others.
“Umno and PAS have a unity pact now. When I was in Umno, I never believed (those in) PAS; they are liars,” he said.
Tg Piai has 52,986 voters, comprising 57.6% Malays, Chinese (41.4%) and Indians (1%).
The fight for the parliamentary seat will be a six-way contest among PH, BN, Gerakan, Berjasa and two independents.
The by-election is tomorrow. – November 15, 2019.
