PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali is the hidden hand that is destroying the party, said the party’s youth chief Akmal Nasir today.

He said this in rebutting Azmin’s remarks earlier today that some unseen hands are involved in blocking him from officiating the youth wing’s congress next month.

Akmal said Azmin need not look far to search for any hidden hands as it was the deputy president himself who is to be blamed for the situation.

“His absence from party’s leadership council and political bureau meetings for a year, and his statements which are usually in conflict with the leadership are the hidden hands that are actually destroying PKR,” Akmal said in a statement.

He also said Azmin was at fault for not responding in time to accept the invitation to officiate the congress.

His delay resulted in the youth wing deciding to invite former party president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said Akmal.

He also slammed Azmin for lacking the necessary qualities in being a leader, citing the economic affairs minister’s penchant for missing party meetings.

Earlier today, Azmin slammed the wing’s decision to rescind the invitation given to him, describing it as an attempt to shut him up.

“This is unprecedented. Political parties usually ask their deputy presidents to launch the women and youth wings’ congresses, while the presidents go for the main congress.

“This is an attempt to shut me up,” he said, adding that the snub was orchestrated by “unseen hands” as youth chief Akmal would not have decided such a matter of his own free will.

He also said he had confirmed his attendance after receiving the invitation. – November 14, 2019.
