PERMODALAN Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) iconic Merdeka 118 Tower is more than 42% complete and has 84 floors.

Work on the building commenced in 2016.

Group chairman Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said PNB’s landmark development, the prestigious Merdeka 118 precinct, will be an extraordinary integration of historic and contemporary architecture located in a formerly celebrated and vibrant Kuala Lumpur enclave.

“The 118-storey Merdeka Tower overlooks Malaysia’s two national landmarks, Stadium Negara and Stadium Merdeka, where Malaysia’s independence was declared in 1957.

“Upon completion by 2021, the tower, at a height of 635m, will be a new landmark on the Kuala Lumpur skyline,” she said during a luncheon talk on the development.

It was held in conjunction with the inaugural PNB Corporate Summit 2019 (PCS 2019) today and themed, “Rebooting Corporate Malaysia”.

The one-day summit was organised by PNB Research Institute Sdn Bhd, the wholly owned research arm of PNB.

Zeti also said the tower is targeting the triple-platinum rating with Leadership in Energy and Environmental DBSEQN (LEED), GreenRE and Green Building Index (GBI) certification. This would make it the first in Malaysia to earn such a rating. – Bernama, November 9, 2019.
