MUHYIDDIN Yassin has called on outstation voters to return to Tanjung Piai for the upcoming by-election, saying they can help improve the lives of their parents who live in the constituency.
The Bersatu president warned that if the “thousands” of outstation voters do not cast their ballots in the November 16 polls, local problems may persist.
“It would be a shame if they don’t come back. There are thousands of them. Some work in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Johor Baru.
“It is their right to vote. If the by-election winner is someone who can’t resolve the issues faced by Tg Piai folk, including the parents of outstation voters, it would be a shame,” he told reporters in Pekan Nanas today.
The home minister said locals have reacted positively to Pakatan Harapan in the first week of campaigning.
“Overall, there are positive signs in certain areas. We are observing every polling district closely. Our election machinery is going all out.
“There has also been some not-so-good responses, but that’s normal.”
