THE Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court today set December 5 and 6 to examine two Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) suspects’ complaints of ill treatment by prison authorities.
The complaints were made by B. Subramaniam, 57, who has been charged with supporting the now-defunct terrorist group, and scrap-metal collector A. Kalaimughilan, 28, who faces a charge of possessing LTTE-linked materials.
Judge Azura Alwi fixed the dates when the duo’s case came up for mention.
She said the accused recorded their complaints in camera on November 1.
“After hearing their complaints, the court is satisfied that there is an offence for action to be taken under Section 128 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
“A further examination of the complaints… will be continued under Section 133 of the Criminal Procedure Code.”
At today’s proceedings, deputy public prosecutor Low Qin Hui prosecuted. Lawyer S. Selvam acted for Subramaniam and Kalaimughilan.
On November 1, counsel M.V. Yoges, representing Kalaimughilan, told the court that her client had complained of ill treatment at Sg Buloh Prison, including not being given a pillow and mattress. – Bernama, November 8, 2019.
