THE Saudi government has agreed to send teachers specialising in English, mathematics and science to Malaysia for training, to prepare for a 21st-century education system.
The Education Ministry, in a statement yesterday, said an agreement on the matter was reached at a meeting between Minister Dr Maszlee Malik and his Saudi counterpart, Dr Hamad Mohammed Al Shaikh.
“Saudi teachers of the three subjects will come here to gain teaching experience. The meeting was held to exchange ideas and get to know the capabilities of teachers in both countries.
“The Saudi government also agreed to grant 300 scholarships to Malaysian undergraduates pursuing studies in the fields of science and technology.”
Malaysia is confident that the cooperation will strengthen bilateral relations, it said.
On Sunday, Maszlee, as a special envoy on behalf of Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, met with Saudi King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud to discuss matters of common interest. – Bernama, November 5, 2019.
