ANWAR Ibrahim today made no apologies for being close to DAP, saying his real enemies are those who abuse power and oppress the people.
The PKR president said Malay groups are used to pinning blame on non-Malays, especially the Chinese, and this has led to DAP bearing the brunt of attacks.
To use the Chinese-majority party as a scapegoat for the country’s ills is wrong, he said.
He said the true enemies are those who oppress Malaysians and misuse their power to steal from the people.
“These are my enemies. (They are the reason) why we have fought for a long time.
“I don’t simply make enemies with anyone. If you are a good Hindu, a good Buddhist, I will not be your enemy.
“Oppose those who oppress – this is what I’ve learnt from my religion,” he told the Federal Territories PKR Convention in Kuala Lumpur.
Anwar told delegates it does not mean they cannot criticise DAP, only that any criticism must be based on facts.
The Port Dickson MP reminded PKR members not to forget their roots.
“I myself am not guaranteed of a victory, so remember, don’t be presumptuous. We won because we stood on the PKR platform.
“You became a candidate… and became known across the country because of the party. Don’t forget this when you’re holding this or that position.” – November 2, 2019.
