PARTI Gerakan Rakyat will field deputy secretary-general Wendy Subramaniam in the Tg Piai by-election, said president Dominic Lau.

Lau made the announcement at the party’s headquarters today.

This will be party’s first foray into an election after leaving the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition last year.

Wendy will face Tg Piai Bersatu chief Karmaine Sardini while BN has yet to decide on its candidate for the by-election on November 16.

The Election Commission has set November 2 as nomination day.

Born in Johor Baru, Wendy, 38, is a lawyer and is married with two children.

The Tg Piai by-election was triggered following the death of its lawmaker Md Farid Md Rafiq of Bersatu. – October 29, 2019.
