FORMER DAP member Hew Kuan Yau and two others were called up today to give statements at the Federal Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman over the publication of a comic that was not authorised to be distributed in schools.

Principal Assistant Director of the Prosecution and Legal Division D5 of Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said Hew and two other individuals would be present to give the statements this afternoon.

Earlier, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador was reported as saying that police had taken a statement from the artist of the comic entitled ‘Inisiatif Jalur dan Jalan Meraih Manfaat Bersama’ (Eng: Belt and Road Initiative for Win Winism) last Friday. 

On October 18, Home Affairs Minister Muhyiddin Yassin stated that initial reports by the security division of the ministry found that there were wrong facts in the comic, thus it was appropriate that action be taken on those who published and distributed the comic.

Recently, the media reported that the comics were distributed in Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan (SMJK) and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) in the country. – Bernama, October 23, 2019.
