ZAINAL Kling will have his statement recorded by the police in Bukit Aman this Friday following his controversial speech made during the Malay Dignity Congress two weeks ago.
Bukit Aman CID Prosecution and Law Division (D5) principal assistant director SAC Mior Faridalathrash Wahid disclosed that the academic will have to be present at 10am.
“Yes, he will have to be here at 10am. We will record his statement,” Mior said when contacted.
A police report was previously lodged against Zainal by Penang Society for Tamil Advancement activist Yoganathan Loganathan at Seberang Prai police headquarters.
Yoganathan said he lodged the report after reading about Zainal’s speech on news portals.
Bukit Aman CID chief Huzir Mohamed last week said that Zainal, who is the chief executive of the Malay Dignity Congress secretariat, was accused of making statements that could cause racial tension.
Zainal gave the opening speech at the congress, in which he said non-Malays were challenging the “social contract” that allowed immigrants in pre-Independence days citizenship of Malaya, as well as challenging the Malay rulers and the special position of the Malays. – October 23, 2019.
