OSMAN Sapian is among the candidates shortlisted by Bersatu for the Tanjung Piai by-election, said secretary-general Marzuki Yahya.

He said the former Johor menteri besar made it onto the list following requests by the party’s grassroots.

“He has been shortlisted, but we have yet to make a decision on the final candidate,” he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

His comments come after posters emerged in Tg Piai, congratulating Osman on being Pakatan Harapan’s man in the contest next month.

The Election Commission has fixed November 16 for polling.

The by-election was called following the death of MP Dr Md Farid Md Rafik, of Bersatu, on September 21 due to heart complications.

Farid, 42, was also a deputy minister in the Prime Minister’s Department. – October 23, 2019.
