HISHAMMUDDIN Hussein today told Pakatan Harapan leaders accusing him of trying to form a new government that would leave DAP and Amanah out in the cold to talk to their leader.

In response to a question if he supported the idea of Dr Mahathir Mohamad completing his term, the Umno MP said the PH chairman was the leader of the government and PH leaders should  talk to him.

“Dr Mahathir  is their leader, not mine. They should be talking to their prime minister,” he said in the Parliament lobby.

All this (talk about a) backdoor government and all that, you need the support of the prime minister. Even if there is proof (that there is a plan to form a new government), at the end of the day, they need to talk to the prime minister as Tun Mahathir is their leader.”

“So why blame Umno, BN and Sembrong?” the Sembrong MP said.

The former defence minister also called PH leaders to prove he was scheming to break up the ruling coalition.

He was referring to PH secretary-general Saifuddin Abdullah’s claim yesterday that PH had proof plans were afoot to stop Anwar Ibrahim from taking over the prime minister’s office.

“It doesn’t affect me, I’ve got nothing to lose. It’s only them and it makes them look weak. It makes them look as though they are not solid,” Hishammuddin said.

“If there is a move to form a government, if Saifuddin Abdullah says there’s proof, it shows that there is something internally wrong with them.”

Hishammuddin said PH had nothing to fear if the pact was strong,

“If they are solid and strong, what is there to be afraid of?”

He said speculation and rumours were a part of politics.

“First, they said I wanted to exclude DAP and Parti Amanah Negara. Then they focused on my articles saying I’m a racist when I was only talking about unity. Now, they are talking about me forming a backdoor government – I don’t even know what that means. How do you do it?” he said, referring to Amanah by its full name.

“It doesn’t make sense. I (am not in a) position to make this happen.”

He told the ruling coalition to focus on running the country instead of wasting their time on issues that brought no benefit to voters. – October 21, 2019.
