CALLS for Sembrong MP Hishammuddin Hussein to be made Barisan Nasional secretary-general will be discussed in the coalition’s supreme council meeting, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

“We haven’t had a BN supreme council meeting yet.

“Insyallah, when the right time comes (we will discuss it),” the BN chairman told reporters in Parliament today.

It was previously reported that Umno president Zahid as well as MCA president Wee Ka Siong and MIC president S. Vigneswaran all had agreed to appoint Hishammuddin as BN’s new secretary-general.

The agreement was reportedly made following their meeting in Kuala Lumpur on August 27.

Following that, Johor Umno in a meeting said it supports the appointment of Hishammuddin to the position.

The position is presently held by Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor, who faces corruption charges. – October 16, 2019.
