THE special task force to investigate the disappearances of Pastor Raymond Koh and Perlis Hope founder Amri Che Mat is not done yet, said Home Minister Muhiyiddin Yassin.
He said the task force has been given six months to complete the probe.
“We have not received any reports on the case, so we wait for the task force (to conclude its investigations),” he said after launching the National Registration Day in Putrajaya today.
It has been more than eight months since the release of the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) report that pointed to the involvement of the special branch.
Following the release of the Suhakam report, Muhyiddin in June announced a special task force to look into their disappearances.
The task force is led by former high court judge Rahim Uda.
Others are Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department director Zamri Yahya, Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission operations director Muhammad Bukhari Ab Hamid, Attorney-General’s Chambers legal officer (public prosecution) Mohd Sophian Zakaria, Home Ministry police force commission secretary Mohd Russaini Idrus, lawyer Roger Tan, and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission inspection and consultancy assistant commissioner Azian Umar.
Koh, 62, disappeared after he was abducted by masked men in Jalan SS4B/10, Petaling Jaya, on February 13, 2017. Amri disappeared on November 24, 2016, after leaving his home in Kangar, Perlis.
The Suhakam inquiry concluded that they were victims of enforced disappearances.
Inquiry panel chairman Mah Weng Kwai had said the panel was of the view that the abductions were carried out by agents of the state, namely, special branch based at the federal police headquarters. – October 16, 2019.
