PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali said he will stay put in the party when answering claims that he had plans to form a new party at the height of discord between him and Anwar Ibrahim over a sex video scandal.
Azmin said he has no reason to leave PKR and will only go if “someone” were to kick him out.
“I was elected and I was given a huge mandate by the members of PKR. Not only me alone, (but) the whole team.
Azmin was asked about claims by PKR founding member Syed Husin Ali that the former had plans to leave and form a new party amid a fallout from a sex video implicating him.
Azmin was named in the video showing two men in bed, but denied it and said it was a plot to destroy his political career.
Syed Husin said Azmin had thought about joining Bersatu or former Barisan Nasional component Gerakan, but these options were rejected by members of his faction in PKR.
Following the two failures, said Syed Husin, Azmin began thinking about setting up a new party.
“The third thing they tried to do was form a new party. At one stage, he (Azmin) was serious about it.
“Many of us were saying if they formed a new party, that would be the end, the death of his gang.”
Azmin, however, today said he remained committed to PKR and would stay on to build the party. – October 15, 2019.
