PEOPLE are responding positively to M. Indira Gandhi’s search for her missing child.

Exasperated over the lack of answers from police, the mother and her support group, Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat), embarked on roadshows to share with the public the story of her decade-long search for her missing former husband and daughter.

The first roadshow kicked off on September 29 in her hometown of Ipoh at the Kallumalai temple hall.

There the Ingat team spoke to more than 100 people about the issues surrounding the missing Prasana Diksa and Indira’s plight in the last 10 years.

Ingat chairman Arun Dorasamy told The Malaysian Insight that the community was supportive of their efforts to find Indira’s daughter.

“We want to inform the people that there is a lack of response from the police and that’s why we have to go down to these communities to get their support to locate her missing child.”

Indira, a kindergarten teacher, hopes to enlist the public’s help in the search for Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, who is believed to be holding their daughter Prasana, now 11.

Riduan snatched Prasana as a baby after he unilaterally converted the couple’s three children to Islam. He is now in defiance of a court order to return the child to her mother.

Although the court granted her custody of the three children after ruling their conversion to be unlawful, Indira is yet to be reunited with her youngest child, whose whereabouts are unknown.

Arun said that during their briefings with communities, they spoke about Indira’s exhaustive legal battles, details of the unilateral conversion and why is Prasana still missing.

“This issue is no more about unilateral conversion, but about a missing person. The aim is to keep the public informed of the case. We cannot let this issue be forgotten.”

On April 17, a police task force was formed to find Riduan and Prasana but four months on, the father and daughter remain as elusive as ever.

Arun also said Indira has yet to receive any update from the task force.

After Ipoh, the Kuantan Indian Association hosted the roadshow at Wisma KIA on October 6.

Arun said those attending the roadshow questioned why the police still can’t locate Riduan or Prasana despite all their resources.

“The people want to know what is happening with the missing child.

“They also offered Indira moral support, financial aid and assistance with legal services.

“We also hope that they will disseminate the information to others on the case, so that they will know the truth.”

As they continue their search for Prasana, Arun also questioned Pakatan Harapan leaders who were previously vocal about Indira’s plight.

“What had happened to these leaders? They were vocal before the elections but left her high and dry after they won. We hope that PH will look into this issue.”

The roadshow was in Kluang, Johor, yesterday and will stop in Sg Petani and Penang next week. – October 14, 2019.

  • The PDRM choose to arrest people using SOSMA but claim they have been monitoring them for years. No evidence after years of observation. So SOSMA is used.
    Let that just sink in.

But despite being instructed by the Courts to locate Indira Gandhi's daughter, the PDRM has chosen not to do so. Do the police understand what his meant by the rule of law, or is this concept just beyond them?

Perhaps they are intellectually challenged, as their Anti-Terrorism Chief is of the opinion that the return of ISIS fighters and their families from Syria pose no danger to this country, and so he is intent on 'rescuing' them from their predicament in Syria and brining them home. Does he believe that they will voluntarily confess to raping and killing women and children in Syria?
We certainly seem to have either fools or dangerous men working at the highest echelons of the PDRM.
