Blackmail threat and RM5 million bribe against Syed Saddiq now with Bukit Aman

SYED Saddiq Abdul Rahman had his statement recorded again, this time by the Special Branch, at the police headquarters in Bukit Aman at 2pm today.

The statement was taken as a follow up to a police report he lodged in Subang Jaya on October 4 over threats made against him and his family members by those who allegedly offered him RM5 million to leave Bersatu.

He had previously given his statement to Subang Jaya police on the matter.

The Bersatu Youth (Armada) chief declined to give details of the report, or where he lodged it, saying only that it involved “personal threats and blackmailing”.

When asked for details of the latest meeting with cops today, Syed Saddiq said that the case is now with Bukit Aman.

“The threat and the RM5 million was related. I would like to thank the police for their professionalism in handling my case,” said Syed Saddiq.

He declined to comment further on the details of his meeting with the police.

He refused to say if he had shared the names of the people who threatened him.

Syed Saddiq spent almost two hours at Bukit Aman today.

Two weeks ago, Syed Saddiq revealed that he was offered the money to ditch his party and then criticise its chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and challenge the 92-year-old former prime minister to a debate.

The threat was received on Wednesday and the perpetrator showed Syed Saddiq that they meant business when they sent him photographs that could be damaging to his family.

The photographs were sent through the Telegram mobile application, with the warning not to reveal the identities of those who had approached him with a bribe to ditch Bersatu and later attack Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who is also Pakatan Harapan chairman.

“The police report lodged by Syed Saddiq was not about him, it was to protect his family,” a source told The Malaysian Insight. – October 17, 2017.
