POLICE today called in for questioning 11 Parti Warisan Sabah leaders over a gathering at court and a candlelight vigil related to the detainment of two colleagues by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.

The 11 are deputy president Darrel Leiking; secretary-general Lorretto Padua Jr; vice-president Junz Wong; treasurer Terrence Siambun; information chief Honorsius Albert Bosuin; Women’s chief Johair Marlani; Women’s Youth chief Munirah Majilis; Munirah’s deputy, Jo-Anna Henley Rampas; deputy Youth chief Nicholas Chak; Youth legal adviser Norazmi Alimat; and, Sepanggar division chief coordinator Mentoh Aru.

Hundreds of Warisan supporters had gathered at the court compound on October 6 following the remand of vice-president Peter Anthony and Youth chief Aziz Jamman.

The duo were remanded by MACC to facilitate the probe into the alleged embezzlement of RM1.5 billion in federal funds from 2009 to 2015.

As at 1pm, six people had turned up to have their statements taken, namely Leiking, Bosuin, Rampas, Padua and Siambun.

Our statements were on the presence of supporters at the court compound and the candlelight vigil, and also on whether both events had been organised.

“Everyone came on their own. It was not organised. It was of public interest, and that’s why people came,” Leiking said in a brief statement on the Warisan WhatsApp group.

Five others were expected to turn up at the station around 2pm.

Aziz was released around noon after being remanded for eight days.

He was released along with Tenom Umno Youth chief Jamawi Jaafar and Tawau Umno Youth Chief Ariffin Kassim. – October 17, 2017.
