POLICE are yet to decide if they will call in former prime minister Najib Razak over an alleged fake news online posting.
“The report saying that we will call up Najib Razak for the alleged fake online post is not true,” said Bukit Aman CID D5 (Prosecution and Legal Division) principal assistant director Mior Faridalatrash Wahid, denying earlier press reports on the matter.
It had been reported police confirmed that Najib would be summoned to Bukit Aman to have his statement recorded over a Facebook post about Perak DAP chief Nga Kor Ming, who was said to have insulted the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
However, a police report was lodged against Najib last week.
Nga’s private secretary Tan Tiong Yih lodged a report at Ipoh district police headquarters over allegations made by Najib in his Facebook post.
Nga in a statement earlier today urged the police to investigate Najib’s Facebook accounts for spreading fake news.
The parliamentary deputy speaker was summoned to Bukit Aman at noon to have his statement recorded after police reports were lodged against him.
Speaking to reporters, the Teluk Intan MP said he had given his statement to the police in Bukit Aman to assist in their investigation.
Nga was questioned for two hours before being released. – October 8, 2019.
