CATERER Dapur PU3 today extended its apologies to the 197 participants who came down with food poisoning after eating the nasi lemak served at the Malay Dignity Congress at Malawati Stadium, Shah Alam, yesterday.

It also said sorry to the event organisers Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Institute Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

“We humbly express our deepest sadness over the food poisoning incident. We have and will continue to fully cooperate with the authorities to identify the cause of the food poisoning,” Dapur PU3 said in a statement today.

Dapur PU3 said it was prepared to take full responsibility for the incident if investigations conclude that the food poisoning was its fault.

The food poisoning victims, who were mainly university students, were variously treated at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital in Klang, Shah Alam Hospital, Sungai Buloh Hospital and the Petaling District Health Centre.

The Selangor Health Department received a report on the incident late yesterday morning. – Bernama, October 7, 2019.

  • Thank God it wasn't a non-Malay caterer. There would be screams for blood and immediate penalties on the caterer and his entire family probably. But, luckily it's only a Malay caterer. So, let's jaga Maruah and sweep this quietly under the carpet.
