ENSURING development for all, bridging income disparities and building a unified, prosperous and dignified nation are the three core objectives of Putrajaya’s Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 that was launched by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today.

Development for all means restructuring the economy to be more progressive, knowledge-based and high value with full community participation at all levels.

According to the Economics Affairs Ministry, this will be enabled through the application of technology, innovation and research and development.

Greater focus will be placed on resources that could spur the digital economy, aerospace industry, smart farming and services sector, which are supportive of the Industry Revolution 4.0(IR4.0).

Putrajaya will also reinvigorate existing industries that contribute to economic growth.

The second objective – to bridge wealth and income disparities – is to address inequality across the board. This includes addressing economic disparities across income groups, ethnicities and regions, to protect and empower the people and to ensure that no one is left behind.

The final objective centred on nation building also aims to transform Malaysia into an economic centre in Asia.

The ultimate goal envisioned by the Pakatan Harapan government is for all Malaysians to enjoy a decent standard of living by 2030.

The vision is a commitment from the government to make Malaysia a nation that achieves sustainable growth along with fair and equitable distribution across income groups, ethnicities, regions and supply chains.

It also aims to strengthen political stability, enhance the nation’s prosperity and unify the people while also celebrating ethnic and cultural diversity which forms the foundation of the country.

The new agenda is launched by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today. – October 5, 2019.
