CORRUPT politicians who fear being hauled up are behind a smear campaign against Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief Dzulkifli Ahmad, Berita Harian reported MACC advisory board chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Tunku Ibrahim as saying.
Tunku Aziz said the allegation that Dzulkifli had an extra-marital affair with a married woman was to undermine the graft-busting agency.
The Malaysian Insight has contacted Dzulkifli for comment on the allegations, but has yet to receive a response.
MACC has also denied that a high-ranking officer was involved with a married woman.
TMI previously reported that there was growing disquiet within Umno and Barisan Nasional over Dzulkifli’s zeal in nabbing those allegedly accepting bribes or involved in corrupt practices, especially government politicians.
A source had said that an Umno Supreme Council meeting last month had discussed several high-profile MACC cases and arrests these past few weeks, with even the most “benign” warlords demanding action to stop the “aggressive” enforcement.
Tunku Aziz told BH that Dzulkifli had brought many “big sharks” to justice.
“Many parties, especially the opposition, had complained that MACC only caught the ‘ikan bilis’ and not the ‘big sharks’, but under Dzulkifli, MACC is not like that.
The woman at the centre of allegations that she had an affair with Dzulkifli came forward yesterday to say that she accepted the blame but would not reveal the real reason behind her divorce.
She apologised to Dzulkifli and his family in a public Facebook post.
She said she had been under pressure to clear her name after a three-minute video implicating her and Dzulkifli in an extra-marital affair went viral on social media recently.
The video showed several grainy pictures of her with Dzulkifli, as well as pictures of her with her family, including two young children.
The author of the clip claimed that the woman and her husband had divorced on September 28 at the Ulu Klang lower shariah court because of the alleged affair.
Several old clips of Dzulkifli were included in the video.
In one clip, he spoke about men and women who swayed from their faith, and those who failed to repent. Another clip showed the officer reciting a poem on integrity.
Questions and remarks directed at Dzulkifli were inserted between the clips and pictures, such as, “How could you destroy this family?” and “Don’t you pity the children?”.
Last Tuesday, the couple criticised those behind the allegations for using their divorce and dragging their children into the matter.
Police are investigating the claims.
Enticing a married woman is an offence in Malaysia under Section 498 of the Penal Code. The crime is punishable with two years’ jail, a fine or both.
The allegation comes after MACC recently arrested several politicians and high-ranking civil servants for alleged graft. – October 16, 2017.

Why suddenly you are so busybody in proving the reasons and answer when it is still under investigations. The man himself has yet to break his silence so please do yourself and us a favour by holding your piece. We are considering your farting should be confined to within your own four walls.
