FEDERAL Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad said Kampung Bharu Development Corporation (PKB) has received about more than 700 applications for redevelopment from Kampung Baru residents.

He said based on the number of forms submitted, about 90% of the landowners have agreed to accept the government’s offer price of RM850psf for their land.

“So far, we have been informed that 700 to 800 forms have been returned to PKB and from the total more than 90% have agreed to the offer from the government,” he said yesterday night in Ruang Bicara on Bernama News Channel

On some claims that the land in the area was worth RM2,000psf, Khalid said there was nothing to prevent those who made such claims to make the landowners an offer.

“Kampung Baru is open to everyone, anybody can make an offer, not only the ministry and government. Anybody who feels the land price is RM2,000psf and can afford to buy, nobody will stop them,” he said.

The price offered by the government, meanwhile, was based on the valuation by the Valuation and Property Services Department.
