WATER supply to more than 370, 000 consumers in Petaling, Hulu Langat, Kuala Langat and Sepang districts has been fully restored, according to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor).

In a statement today, the utilities supplier said this was based on monitoring of the Sungai Semenyih water treatment plant’s service reservoir and water pressure on the distribution system at noon today.

The plant had to shut down because of odour pollution of its raw water supply on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Air Selangor dismissed complaints about quality, saying the treated water supplied met quality standards set by the government and was attested to by sampling carried out at 120 locations, also by noon today.

Indah Water Konsortium and the Department of Environment allege the source of the odour pollution was due to illegal dumping into the sewage system at the Indah Water sewage Treatment Plant in Bukit Makhota. Police reports have been filed. – Bernama, September 30, 2019.
