PARTI Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has hit out at Parti Warisan Sabah for “pinching” another of its elected representatives, calling it a dishonourable act of dirty politics.

PBS president Maximus Ongkili said the crossing-over of two of its assemblymen to Warisan shows that the state ruling party’s leaders are insecure and lacked honour for continuously enticing elected reps from other parties to join them.

“It is disappointing that the Warisan-led government was formed through the process of leap-frogging and still continues to entice our members to join them.

“It only shows that they are weak while PBS is strong and they (Warisan) want to weaken us,” Ongkili said at a press conference today after the party’s Labuk assemblyman Abdul Rahman Kongkawang joined Warisan earlier today.

Rahman, who was an appointed PBS vice-president, is the second party member to defect to Warisan, after Wanita chief Anita Baranting in March this year. Anita is also Tandek assemblyman.

Ongkili said it was high time for an anti-hopping law to end the dishonest acts of elected reps leap-frogging.

He said elected reps who want to cross over to another party should vacate their seat before doing so.

Former Labuk rep Michael Asan, who is also PBS advisory council deputy chairman, has been tasked with reconstructing the PBS Labuk division and training new leaders following Rahman’s departure, Ongkili added. – September 27, 2019.
