THE coroner made a “fair” call in determining the death of Muhamad Adib Mohd Kassim to have been the result of a criminal act, political combo PAS and Umno said.

“We are pleased with the conclusion and the decision was a fair one as the coroner has considered all the views,” deputy PAS Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said at a rally outside the Shah Alam court complex today.

“This decision has restored confidence in the judicial system.

Earlier, coroner Rofiah Mohamad delivered the verdict that the fireman was killed by a criminal act and ordered police to reopen investigations into the case.

Fadhli said Attorney-General Tommy Thomas must resign or go on leave following the decision.

“We hope that the AG will not appeal this decision and we want the police to reopen the investigation.

“Following this decision, the police must call in all the witnesses and interview them again.”

Fadhli, who is the Pasir Mas MP, also called on the government to investigate Selangor exco V. Ganabatirau but did not say what for.

Ganabatirau was among the Indian politicians in Pakatan Harapan who issued statements following riots at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariaman temple in USJ which led to Adib’s injuries and subsequent death.

Ganabatirau’s Facebook posts on the matter had allegedly caused racial friction.

Meanwhile, Umno Youth exco Muhammad Faiz Hashim said the coroner has made a good decision that everyone should accept.

“This is not a racial issue but one of justice and human rights,” he said.

Some 50 PAS and Umno members were gathered at the court complex in Shah Alam at 9am to await the inquest verdict.

The inquest opened on February 11 to determine the cause of death of fireman Muhammad Adib, 24 who died after responding to a riot situation at a temple in Seafield, Subang Jaya on November 27.

Thirty witnesses, including several experts, were called and 137 exhibits submitted before the hearing ended on July 24.

Among the expert witnesses called were Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic specialist Dr Ahmad Hafizam Hasmi, and United Kingdom-based senior consultant forensic pathologist, Prof Dr Shahrom Abd Wahid. – September 27, 2019.
