SABAH is hopeful that Pakatan Harapan will deliver the 20% oil royalty promised in its election manifesto, said Sabah Chief Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said he hoped all the 40% state revenue entitlement as well as the oil royalty will be realised in the forthcoming budget.

“I have conveyed this to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng. I have indicated to Putrajaya that 20% is not much compared to what they have got.

“This is my hope for in the upcoming budget.

“We realise the financial constraints Putrajaya is facing but Sabah, too, is in need of money, our infrastructures are lacking behind.”

Shafie said this during his visit at the Shell Sabah headquarters at Plaza Shell in Kota Kinabalu today.

He was asked about the state’s wish list for Budget 2020 which will be tabled on October 11.

“The Malaysia Agreement and oil royalty have always been hot topic from one election to another… Sabahans are saying how the state being an oil-producing state does not enjoy the revenue.”

Shafie said the state government is in constant talks with Putrajaya on how best to realise the revenue entitlement. – September 23, 2019.
