THE vice-president of Parti Warisan Sabah, Peter Anthony, has been allowed bail by Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

He was detained last week after serving a five-day remand but was hospitalised on Tuesday after a three-day remand extension was approved. 

The remand ended today but Anthony is at KPJ Sabah Specialist Centre in Damai Kota Kinabalu due to dehydration and other medical conditions.

MACC prosecutor Mohd Faliq Basiruddin said the commission will seek a bond of RM50,000 with two local sureties.

“Due to his health condition, we will bring the guarantors and paperwork to him,” said Mohd Faliq.

Magistrate Cindy McJuce Balistus was brought to the specialist centre to release him from remand.

Lawyer Martin Tommy said his client was recuperating and declined to comment further.

Seven people have been arrested by MACC after RM1.5 billion of federal funds meant for Sabah’s rural areas over a period of six years up to 2015 was misappropriated. – October 13, 2017.
