MOHD Shafie Apdal has urged Sabahans to give their best to the nation, saying after 56 years of Malaysia, there is still much to be achieved.

The chief minister said a lot of work needs doing to ensure future generations, too, enjoy unity, peace and prosperity.

“Malaysia has progressed much since its formation. At one time, the people were living in ‘poverty’... not just in terms of infrastructure, development and amenities, but also in health and education. But, there is still much to be done.

“In these 56 years… the country has cultivated unity among the races and religions,” he said in his Malaysia Day message today.

Shafie added that all Malaysians must continue to work hard to preserve harmony.

This year’s Malaysia Day celebrations are being held in Kuching, Sarawak. – September 16, 2019.
