PRIME Minister Najib Razak has declared a no-holds barred war on his critics, saying he will no longer just defend himself, but will now attack those who insist on fighting him.
“I am not afraid no matter who (is attacking me), whether it is Mahathir, Kit Siang, Rafizi,” he said, referring to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, and PRK vice-president Rafizi Ramli.
“Fight, let us fight,” he roared in Bahasa Melayu to applause from his audience at the Social Media Activists’ Gathering 2017 on April 14.
Najib warned that from now, “nothing is sacred”.
“Let’s see how brave you are; whether you are a man or not,” he said as the crowd got on its feet, cheering and clapping.
“No more on the defensive. From now, it is attack, attack, attack”
The prime minister is strengthening his foothold in the next general election by garnering the support of pro-Barisan Nasional (BN) social media activists, including bloggers.
On his blog last week, Najib had said that BN had long been in “defensive mode” and it was now “time to attack”.
“We must be quick in our response so we do not get trapped like during the previous general election when the opposition spead false news that we brought in Bangladeshis and even created blackout situations at certain places to manipulate the votes.” – April 19, 2017.
