KHALID Abdul Samad has acknowledged the escalation in racial issues played up by certain quarters, including the opposition.

The Federal Territories minister said such issues are deliberately being brought up to criticise the Pakatan Harapan administration.

“At a recent cabinet meeting, it was reported that racial issues are on the rise… and we see that these issues are being created by a group with an agenda.

“We have also seen the opposition intentionally bringing up these issues on social media to criticise the government,” he told reporters in Shah Alam yesterday.

He said the group mentioned is politicising racial issues with the aim of eroding national unity.

Such a thing should not exist in the present day, he said.

“In the past, when we (PH) were the opposition, we never created these issues. We criticised the then government, but in a positive way.

“Show some maturity and don’t trigger racial issues.” – Bernama, August 27, 2019.
