UMNO Youth has formed a uniformed volunteers corps to carry out voluntary and welfare programmes nationwide.

This volunteer group – called Sabil Squad – will also spearhead the party’s efforts in facing the next general election and defeating Pakatan Harapan, said Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the launch of the squad in Janda Baik today.

He said the volunteers would be given adequate training to instil the spirit of volunteerism and sacrifice in line with the party spirit of defending race, religion and nation.

The squad follows the mould of PAS’s Unit Amal.

“We build a new strength, which is important because we want to send a message to everyone that we are committed to defeating PH in the next general election.

“We have been pressured, slammed, ridiculed and treated cruelly but now, don’t play with our Sabil Squad.

“If a snap general election is called, for whatever reason, this squad will be there in every parliamentary and state seat,” he said.

Zahid also hoped that future Umno leaders will continue using Sabil Squad as front liners of the party.

“I want all future leaders of Umno Youth and Umno to ensure this squad remains. The party will undertake the cost of running it,” he added.

He also reminded recruits to the squad not to pick fights with government agencies when it comes to serving the people.

Meanwhile Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the use of the term “Sabil” should not be misconstrued as attacking other races.

He said it is a term that means doing something good in according to the will of God. – August 25, 2019.

  • Are they registered with the ROS? The Home Minister should not approve such para-military forces.

  • Wasnt this the same type of voluntary squad that was formed by the Penang state government when BN was in power? And wasnt that group treated like criminals, arrested and harassed by the police at the instruction of the Umno federal government? Pakatan should judge these fellers by those same rules.

  • What happens if all parties r having their so called squads and frankly speaking, this kind of squads will not do well to unity and hopefully, it's not hostility.

  • Mussolini had the blackshirt squad, Hitler had jis Jugend squad, Pinochet had his SNJ youth squad, Mao form the Red Guard, Saddam & Gaddafi had the Revolution Army and now please make way for Sabil Squad nothing except for a bunch of trouble makers formerly got allowance for riding their bikes carrying BN flags and attending events to fill the tents in showing the numbers. Is this Sabil Squad a registered body?? If its does what is the body written objectives??
