A SPECIAL audit will be conducted into the sale of land owned by City Hall with the assistance of the National Audit Department, said Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairman Dr Noraini Ahmad.
She said the audit would complete the report for tabling in parliament, which date was yet to be fixed.
“The report will only be tabled after the committee is satisfied with all statements and explanations from witnesses called,” she said in a statement today.
She said although the sale was not reported in the Auditor-General’s Report, action would still be taken authorised by the PAC under Standing Order 77 (1) (d) in which empowers the committee to open investigations into where it deems necessary.
Noraini said PAC started proceedings on April 4 by calling in Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad, followed by former Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Shukri Abdulland Attorney-General Tommy Thomas via his representative Solicitor-General II Siti Zainab Omar on April 23.
Last Monday, she said Petaling Jaya City councillor, lawyer Derek John Fernandez was called and the day after that, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan.
She clarified that the proceedings were not related to the court case of former Federal Territories Minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
Noraini said the committee was assisted fully by representatives of the Attorney-General’s Office, the National Audit Department and MACC in all its proceedings to ensure all information received were non-sub judicial. – Bernama, August 22, 2019.
