LECTURER Ridhuan Tee Abdullah should get his facts right about the National Patriots Association (Patriot) before making baseless allegations and lies to serve his own agenda.
Patriot public communication director Wong Ang Peng today accused Ridhuan of distorting history in an article, Sudahlah presiden Patriot!, where the latter slammed its president, Brig-Gen Mohamed Arshad Raji.
“Ridhuan Tee took issue on Patriot’s earlier statement that criticised former Umno president Najib Razak falsely claiming Umno members had fought against the communists,” Wong said in a statement, calling the article “without basis and distorted”.
Ridhuan, while defending Najib, said it was “Umno leaders who were in power and decision-makers then and, therefore, it’s correct to say (its) members participated in the fight against the communists”.
Ridhuan also insinuated that Arshad was trying to please Pakatan Harapan in order to secure a high position in government.
“He was mischievous and insulting,” Wong said.
Ridhuan also insulted Arshad by suggesting the retired soldier wasn’t a hero compared to the late Kanang Langkau, better known as the Iban warrior who killed five enemies, captured one and was shot three times, losing a kidney.
Wong said Ridhuan either got his facts wrong or is lying to serve his own agenda.
“The facts show that Ridhuan was either lying or he got the stories mixed up to serve his own agenda.”
Wong said he, a second lieutenant then, was part of the special tracker team to locate an enemy camp which included Sgt Kanang and they were under the command of a Captain Othman.
“The date of the incident was June 1, 1979 and not February 19, 1980 as mentioned by Ridhuan. In that incident, Captain Othman, with other officers (yours truly included), led the company to attack and killed five enemies. We lost two soldiers. We did not capture any enemy. Kanang was neither shot nor injured during the firefight that lasted 45 minutes. The incident when Kanang got shot and lost his kidney happened two months later,” Wong said.
Wong today questioned Ridhuan’s honesty and integrity, saying the academic has a proven record of plagiarising other people’s work.
Ridhuan, he said, is an “Umno political apparatchik” whose survival depends on spewing out “venomous words of hatred on behalf of his political patron”.
“The tone, content, choice of words and the factual accuracy of his argument berating Patriot and its President are reflective of the level of his intellectual capacity and his ability to argue logically and objectively.” – August 21, 2019.
