UMNO should carefully study cooperating with PAS in the 14th general election as history has shown that the struggles of the two Malay parties are no aligned, AstroAwani quoted veteran party leader Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah as saying. 

The Gua Musang MP said though he supported the cooperation if it would benefit the people, he was worried that it was a case of “once bitten twice shy”.

“There was no suggestion of the two parties joining forces. I don’t think grassroots members would support joining forces, and PAS did not suggest that it wanted to join us (Umno).

“As long as we fight for people’s rights and realise our common interests, I don’t see any reason for us to cooperate,” he said at Bukit Cekati near Gua Musang today.

Tengku Razaleigh said the possibility of three-cornered fights in Kelantan was a good test for voters when choosing the party that could best serve them. 

“I believe Umno is confident that the people of Kelantan will support it. 
“Throughout the years of PAS in power, the people could not find a stable livelihood. That is why almost 50% of Kelantanese are seeking their fortunes in other states, especially in the Klang Valley.” – October 8, 2017.
