POLICE have recorded statements from 12 witnesses to assist in investigations into a road rage incident that claimed the life of Syed Muhammad Danial Syed Syakir last Saturday.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed said three more witnesses would give their statements this afternoon.
“The witnesses who came to give statements were there during and after the incident. Some will be present at the Kajang District Police Headquarters this afternoon.
“The investigation is still ongoing and the autopsy report has been received. The police have handed the report to the deputy public prosecutor for evaluation,” he told a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent headquarters near Kuala Lumpur.
In the incident, Danial, 29, died after he was hit by a vehicle that was involved in a minor car accident with his car after the Sg Besi toll plaza. Both vehicles stopped near the intersection of Bandar Baru Bangi after chasing one another.
Prior to the incident, both drivers were said to have been involved in an altercation, before the victim ended up pinned between a vehicle and a highway railing, killing him.
Police have remanded a couple to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
Both were remanded for seven days until Saturday.
Earlier, the police had said they will call up Lokman Noor Adam in connection with a video posted on social media about the accident at the South North Expressway near the Bandar Baru Bangi intersection.
In a seven-minute video posted on YouTube, Lokman urged the public to make a police report based on a picture of the victim, which went viral after the Saturday incident. β Bernama, August 15, 2019.
