POLICE have narrowed down the search area for missing British teenager Nora Quoirin as they believe she can’t have ventured too far out.
Entering a week since Quoirin went missing, Negri Sembilan police chief Mohamad Mat Yusof said the search area has been narrowed down from six map squares to four map squares.
He said rescuers believe Quoirin has not gone farther than the mentioned area.
He added that police have not set a timeline for the search but the authorities are getting worried of her well-being.
Mohamad said they could not estimate for how much longer the 15-year-old teenager can survive in the jungle.
“Of course we are worried about her safety. We do not know how long she can survive but there is no time frame for the search and rescue mission,” he told a press conference this evening.
Quoirin disappeared without a trace last Sunday from her room at The Dusun Pantai Hill eco-resort after arriving for a two-week holiday with her parents and two siblings.
Police said she left her villa clad only in her undergarments and no one has seen her since.
In today’s search and rescue mission, 317 personnel were deployed including dozens of Vat 69 elite commandos.
Police have lifted several fingerprints from a window left ajar at the villa but have not disclosed their findings.
They are also using the recordings of Quoirin’s mother Meabh’s voice in a bid to lure the teenager out of the Jeram Toi rainforest, which sits next to Gunung Berembun.
The case is still classified as a missing person’s case despite calls from the family to reclassify the case as an abduction.
The Dusun Pantai Hill eco-resort is located next to the Berembun Mountain and is situated in the Jeram Toi rainforest near Seremban. – August 10, 2019.
