What are they not telling us about Selangor's conversion bill?

SISTERS in Islam (SIS) demands that all parties are transparent about motives behind discussions with regards to a proposed bill in Selangor that would pave the way for unilateral conversion of minors in the state.

We demand to know who proposed this bill as well as the reason behind it, given that a landmark ruling has already been made at the Federal Court in January last year.

It is important that the intentions of the bill is made clear to the public in order to prevent the manipulation of our country’s plural legal system and exploitation of Islam for political purposes.

Secret meetings and closed-door discussions is unbecoming of a Malaysia whose ambition is to hold democracy, transparency and integrity with the highest regards.

We are concerned and disappointed that public engagements are not being held as this decision will not only have devastating effects on the family institution, but also negatively affect the lives of thousands of children in Selangor. – August 8, 2019.

  • Sack the MB. No excuse for him to hid and present an amendment without open consultation with PH members. This MB has betrayed the rakyat by putting up a bill that was thrown out by Federal court. We can ask million people to demo and oppose whoever initiated and approve the bill to be put up.Pengkhianat rakyat.

  • This Amiruddin fella needs to go. He exploited religion for his own political gain. Everything was fine as it is until he brought this up just to get more Malay votes to safeguard his position.

There are many other things that needs immediate attention and this is not one of those. Fix the potholes and give us reliable clear and clean drinking water. Improve public transportation. There are many things he can do but choose to do this instead. For what?

  • The likes of Mahatir , Anwar and their cohort Malay leaders in UmnoPAS, Bersatu and PKR are a bane to New Malaysia Developement. Their skewed mind in race and religion are just devilish in intent. I think the nons seriously have to consider migrating out and leave this country to them to destruct. As long as there are non's in the country, these half bake Malay leaders will only do lip service and purposely prosecute or persecute to make lives miserables for the non to live peacefully. Why be a punching bag and make it a reason for them to continuiously do so. If there is intention to face this ridiculous on slaught then the non has to be tough and stam the foot down to take them on as it is our home as pendatang and same goes to them. Enough of their silly shits.

  • Does it not affect the image of Islam itself? The Prophet never suggested such a thing, so who are the politicians to turn religion into a weapon for political purposes? Doesn't Islam prohibit the misuse of Islam for political purposes?
