FORMER Petaling Jaya councillor Peter Chong Fook Meng told police he was abducted in Hat Yai and taken to Pattaya before being released.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh said Chong had gone to Hat Yai to meet his source who had information on Pastor Raymond Koh’s disappearance.

Koh was abducted from his car by a group of men in Kelana Jaya, on Feb 13. Closed-circuit television camera footage showed he was taken by several masked men in at least five vehicles and two motorcycles.

“Chong claimed he was abducted and taken to Pattaya,” Amar Singh said in a telephone interview with The Malaysian Insight.

Amar Singh said Chong also told police that upon his release, he contacted his son who bought him a flight ticket home.

He said police would check Chong’s claims.

“The said abduction happened in Thailand. Let us communicate with the Thai authorities on this. At the moment, it is still being investigated as a missing person’s case,” said Amar Singh.

Chong’s disappearance was reported by his son Darryl on April 8, sparking speculation that the 54-year-old social activist had suffered the same fate as four other activists who had disappeared in the last six months.

Apart fron Pastor Raymond Koh, civil society group Perlis Hope founder Amri Che Mat, Pastor Joshua Hilmy and wife Ruth have disappeared without a trace. – April 16, 2017.

  • Why does this sound so fishy, that the real cause is a personal issue? It stinks, smells like a lie....
