POLICE will open an investigation paper against Peter Chong Fook Meng, the former Petaling Jaya City councillor who finally returned home after going “missing” since April 5.
Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar told The Malaysian Insight via a text message that the police will investigate if the 54-year-old had staged his own disappearance to cause public panic.
Chong left his condominium unit in Kuala Lumpur on April 5 and failed to return home, prompting his son Darryl to lodge a report three days later.
He returned home today from Pattaya, Thailand.
Police earlier brushed off the rumour that Chong was abducted as information retrieved by police showed he had gone to Thailand on April 7.– April 16, 2017.
