INSPECTOR-GENERAL of Police Abdul Hamid Bador is ready to meet with M. Indira Gandhi as part of renewed efforts by the police to find her ex-husband Muhammad Riduan Abdullah and daughter Prasana Diksa.
“I am ready to meet with the mother as I am taking personal interest in this case,” he said after officiating an event at the Cheras Police Academy this afternoon.
On Monday, Hamid said police are doubling their efforts to trace Riduan, who has defied a court order to return 11-year-old Prasana to Indira.
Indira has fought for the last 10 years to nullify the unilateral conversion of Islam by Riduan of Prasana and their two older children.
The Federal Court in January last year affirmed that this was unlawful without the consent of both parents.
Last week, she lodged a police report that Riduan was being hidden with the help of followers of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik and southern Thailand separatists.
Hamid, however, said police have no leads on such a claim.
Hamid today said “a few new elements” had been added to the police special task force on finding Riduan.
“Manpower has been increased in the task force. I have met with the director and other directors to look into this,” he said, referring to Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed.
“We want to locate the father and the girl as ordered by the court. That’s our job,” said Hamid. – August 1, 2019.
